“I felt mental clarity that continued into the next day and throughout the week. I booked my second session soon after.”

— Rebecca S.

Reiki is a hands-on healing technique used to create deep relaxation and accelerate an individual’s self-healing abilities.

What To Expect

I’ve heard it said that as soon as you book the appointment, the session begins, and I think it’s a great way to look at it. Your motivation for reaching out will certainly be a factor in your intention and that which is being treated, but it can also be useful to note what issues are arising in your life between the time you book the appointment and the session. This may indicate another area that is longing for healing. Setting an intention is using your consciousness to move energy, giving the universal energy we’re tapping into some direction. Intentions can be purely physical and/or fall into mental, emotional or spiritual categories.

Upon your arrival, I’ll show you where I’ll be placing my hands on your body (over your major chakras), from head to toe. I generally start the hour-long session with a short meditation or breathing exercise to encourage a relaxed state. You’ll be wearing comfortable clothes and laying on a massage table.

Once we begin, you may fall asleep or go into a theta/dream state, you may experience subtle energy sensations, visualize colors, memories or scenes or feel like nothing is happening at all. I’ve personally experienced the latter but then had an intense and enlightening night afterwards. The important thing is to trust the process and not get too caught up in your thoughts, which tend to create a blockage. I recommend keeping the rest of your day light, without much obligation, so you have the option of doing whatever your body is telling you it wants. The process will continue after the session if you’re available for it. Take time over the next couple of days to reflect on what may be arising or shifting. Healing is non-linear and takes time.
