Your Questions, Answered
What exactly is Reiki?
Reiki is a simple, gentle method of hands-on (or off) natural healing which channels Universal Life Force energy through the practitioner's hands to the recipient to gently bring health and harmony at the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual levels. Modern Reiki originated in Japan in the early 1920's, but the Reiki energy itself is ancient.
When stress is reduced, it creates a space for the body to heal itself. Reiki has been shown to reduce pain, shorten recovery times, and give a greater sense of well being. It truly is an amazing energy, and the best part is that ANYONE can learn to be a Reiki practitioner.
What will my first session be like?
You'll simply take off your shoes and lie down fully clothed on a Reiki table (It's just like a massage table). If mobility is a problem, we can do the session with you seated. I'll stand next to the table and place my hands in the energy field that surrounds you while you close your eyes and relax. You'll feel a flow of gentle soothing energy. With your permission, I may use light touch as well, but often I find that the energy is most effective when I work around you in your energy field.
Many people fall asleep or go into a meditative state when they receive a Reiki treatment. If you need to scratch, snore, or adjust your position, you certainly can. There's no need to be self-conscious or apologetic. It's all part of releasing the things in your life that no longer serve you.
Does Reiki help with terminal and chronic illnesses?
Reiki gives you what you need. But that's not always what you want, especially when dealing with a terminal disease or chronic illness. Reiki is for healing; it's not a guaranteed cure, although miracles can and do happen. Reiki helps to alleviate the stress and discomfort of chronic illness and can open the door to new insights, treatments, and interventions. For the terminally ill, Reiki can bring peace, help individuals and families come to terms with the end of life, and ease the transition into the next great adventure.
Can anyone learn to do Reiki?
Yes! Take a Reiki class where you'll receive training, experience, and an on-site attunement, placement, or ignition and you'll start to channel this incredible energy yourself. I know we talk about the energy coming through our hands to give Reiki, but even people who do not have functional hands can become Reiki practitioners. Don't let any perceived limitations keep you from achieving your dreams.
I know online and budget one-day Reiki I & II classes exist - I considered taking these myself, but after much consideration I decided that I needed to value myself and my desire to learn Reiki and take an official class from an International Center for Reiki Training (ICRT) Master Teacher. I wanted to receive thorough instruction with a Reiki Master whose energy and feedback I could see and feel in real time, and I'm glad I did. I received a greater breath and depth of knowledge and far more hands-on experience than I would have otherwise. I am proud that I am now a Professional Reiki Master Teacher through the ICRT.
What is Holy Fire Reiki?
Holy Fire Reiki is a form of Reiki that is both powerful and gentle. It heals at many levels, going beyond the physical to get at the source of illness. Holy Fire Reiki is not affiliated with any religion or belief system, but is an energy which comes directly from Divine Source. I teach a combination of Usui and Holy Fire Reiki, bringing together the older traditions and the newer energies to give each student a firm foundation in healing.
